Bach Toccata & Secret Music

The Spazio Garavello 7 offers a breathtaking panorama over the branch of the lake facing Porto Ceresio. To such scenic beauty corresponds the charm and dynamism of the brass quintet specialized in revisiting the most famous or unknown musical pieces.

The Geneva Brass ensemble is known for its multiple talents: its warm and distinctive sound shines brightly as it crisply interprets a Bach fugue, gently whispers a Cosma ballad, or softly hums a traditional Alpine horn melody. The ensemble can be powerful when playing alongside an organ or big band, yet it can also be soft and tender when accompanying a choir, a pan flute, or even a harp.

Based in Geneva, the brass qu intet is a fervent supporter of Swiss culture and regularly commissions new pieces to expand its repertoire.

At the end of the concert, the Municipality of Morcote will organize a reception for the entire audience, and there will be an opportunity to interact with the musicians.

Scandinavian Spirits

This concert unfolds amidst ancient legends, enveloped in an atmosphere of archaic music imbued with magical symbols. Overlooking Lake Lugano, we embark on a journey ins pired by an ancient Norwegian poem recounting enchanting spirits inhabiting Swedish traditional ballads and legends.
Brú's music lifts the delicate veil between reality and mystery. At the end of this exhilarating voyage, one question lingers: Is there tru ly a boundary between fairy tale and reality?
Brú is a project with a flexible lineup, composed of musicians active in the European Baroque music scene. Their innovative musical language merges the eloquence of ancient music played on original instruments with the fresh vitality of traditional Irish, Scottish, and Nordic music, combined in arrangements and original compositions by Krishna Nagaraja.

Got Rhythm!

The Corte di Bigogno in Agra is an open air music hall that Ceresio Estate cannot do without: the
acoustics are excellent, being enclosed on all four sides by houses of an ancient medieval village. The protagonist of the evening is the Vagues Saxophone Quartet, which will perform works by various composers, including Gershwin and Bernstein, two exponents of American music.

The Vagues Saxophone Quartet exploits the timbral combinations of its fo ur performers. The repertoire focuses on promoting new music and performance practices through constant research and experimentation in close collaboration with composers.

Among the many awards won are the "Premio Novecento" for the best performance of con temporary music at the International "Luigi Nono" Competition (Venaria Reale) and the first prize at the International Contemporary Music Performance Competition organized by the Flavio Vespasiano Foundation of Rieti within the XII Reate Festival.

De Spiritali Amicitia

The Middle Ages is an immense historical period in which monks ponder every aspect of life. The treatise De Spiritali Amicitia by Ailred, abbot of Rievaulx, is a vivid literary work, halfway between a philosophical compendium and a theatrical script. The themes analyzed in the conversation between Ailred and some monks who seek his advice are the origins of the feeling of spiritual and
selfless friendship.

The same themes explored in the conversations are developed in the texts of pie ces taken from monastic manuscripts between the 12th and 14th centuries, which LaReverdie reinterprets with voices and instruments.

On this occasion, the Municipality of Morcote organizes a short lecture by Dr. Adine Gavazzi, holder of the UNESCO chair at the University of Genoa, on t he extraordinary history and culture of this small village, which in the late Middle Ages served as a commercial hub between Byzantium and Flanders passing through Venice. In 2016, Morcote was recognized as the "most beautiful village in Switzerland" and i n 2023, it received the Best Tourism Villages award from the World Tourism Organization. To support the arguments, some shots by Heinz Plenge , renowned UNESCO photographer of international fame, will be projected. For those arriving by car, it is recommend ed to park in the Garavello parking garage and follow the pedestrian signs to the Church of Santa Maria del Sasso.

The repertoire is built around the second concerto for cello and orchestra by composer Herbert Victor and revolves around contemporary Anglo Saxon music. The orchestra of the Association of Students of the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland will be conducted by Michele Patuzzi. On the cello, Milo Ferrazzini, a young Ticino talent.
